Breakthrough Victory: Ukraine Aid Bills Passed House!

We have some incredible news to share! Thanks to relentless efforts and unwavering support from people like you, the U.S. House has passed two critical Ukrainian Aid Bills, H.R. 8035 (311-112) and H.R. 8038 (360-58), showcasing bipartisan support. Today's U.S. House votes are a significant step, unblocking this critical legislation's path into the Senate and toward final signing into law by President Biden, which we anticipate will happen soon. H.R. 8035 and H.R. 8038 will ensure the swift provision of military support to Ukraine by expediting the rapid delivery of military resources to Ukraine, including 155mm ammunition and advanced air defense missiles. This achievement marks a pivotal moment in our ongoing support for Ukraine, proving once again that advocacy works and collective action can bring about real change. A Collective Victory

Pass Ukraine Aid Now – Delays Are Deadly

Nova Ukraine, a leading US humanitarian nonprofit supporting Ukraine’s fight for liberty, welcomes Speaker Johnson’s decision to facilitate House floor votes on Ukraine aid packages. Putting Ukraine aid to a vote will show clearly that it is in the interest of US foreign policy and the American people. As a member of the American Coalition for Ukraine, Nova Ukraine helped organize the fourth Ukraine Action Summit in Washington, DC this week. Nova Ukraine director Nick Bilogorskiy adds that “Nova Ukraine volunteers and I met with our representatives and senators on Monday and Tuesday to emphasize the dire need to approve supplemental funding for Ukraine and the gruesome consequences to European security of further delays.” Speaker Johnson’s initiative follows a half year of indecision and stalling, which gave russia an upper hand on the battlefield. Nova Ukraine director Dr. Igor L. Markov notes that “To be effective, the bills put to a vote later this week must provide thorough and immediate military aid to Ukraine. In particular, they must adequately fund the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA).” Equally important is facilitating the use of seized russian assets to support Ukraine. As is well known, most of the funds allocated by the Congress to military aid for Ukraine are expended in the US and support American jobs to produce equipment and ammunition for Ukraine. The deliveries are tracked all the way to the battlefield to dispel any suspicions.

Urgent Update: Major Attack on Ukraine’s Energy Network

On April 11, 2024, russia’s attack obliterated Ukraine’s largest power plant in the Kyiv region, the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant. Power generation for the Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Zhytomyr regions is now dramatically reduced and cannot be restored in the near future. Such strategic attacks across Ukraine (near Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, and elsewhere) seek to break the will of the Ukrainian people by depriving them of electricity and heating. Kharkiv has been hit particularly hard but continues to endure. Nova Ukraine remains steadfast in its commitment to support and rebuild. With over $86 million in aid delivered, our efforts continue across multiple critical areas to mitigate the impacts of these catastrophic events. We Need Your Help!

Pediatric Rehabilitation: Empowering Ukraine’s Youngest Heroes

In a world where children's laughter should echo through schools and playgrounds, far too many Ukrainian children face a grim reality. They are surviving a brutal full-scale invasion by russia and often suffer from injuries that reach beyond the physical. These kids have been unjustly deprived of their innate right to a carefree existence — to walk, play, and enjoy the freedoms of childhood. Filling the Void in Pediatric Care In the shadows of the second year of the full-scale invasion, the toll on innocent lives is often underestimated. But in Ukraine, daily life can be heart-wrenching — explosions not just at the front lines but also in homes, cribs, schools, and kindergartens. The dire need for early and effective rehabilitation for children suffering from wounds, illnesses, limb amputations, as well as brain and spinal cord injuries, cannot be overstated.

Be the Warmth

Join Us in Warming Lives This Winter -- Your Support is Crucial! Ukraine is bracing for its second tough winter of the full-scale invasion with a severely damaged energy infrastructure. Despite massive repairs to the energy system, it remains fragile after the many months of russian strikes. As a result, millions of Ukrainian families are bracing for power outages. Many communities are preparing for the cold temperatures and hardships of regular blackouts, compounded by damaged homes, unstable electrical grid, and unreliable gas supply. In the winter, temperatures in Ukraine can drop from 35°F to a frigid -4°F, and this is particularly concerning for the large number of displaced Ukrainians in the eastern and central regions. The energy crisis poses significant risks, but your support makes resilience possible.

Ukraine’s Amputee Numbers Surge, Echoing World War I Era

Fighting at Ukrainian battlefields is taking a toll. The number of amputees in Ukraine has now reached the scale seen in the aftermath of World War I when mass use of field artillery left numerous soldiers on all sides without limbs. As a result of the war, an estimated 20,000 to 50,000 Ukrainians have had to undergo amputations, often losing one or more limbs. After 500 days of brutal fighting, this once-unimaginable statistic has become a stark and painful reality. The lives of many men and women have been forever altered, their dreams disrupted, and their futures and livelihoods cast into uncertainty. Our Partnership with Protez Hub Foundation Nova Ukraine is proud to collaborate with the Protez Hub Foundation, an organization championing the development of the limb prosthetics industry in Ukraine. Together, we aim to provide a comprehensive resource for everything related to limb prosthetics in Ukraine, from essential information for the injured to a list of service providers and free educational courses for professionals.
