The Impact of Your Donations

The Impact of Your Donations

Delve into our Annual Impact Report 2023 to discover all the stories and the full range of our initiatives. From delivering bread to recently deoccupied territories to sending school supplies for internally displaced people, each donation has made a difference!

As we approach the solemn anniversary on February 24, our determination at Nova Ukraine is unwavering and stronger than before.

Backing Ukraine in these challenging times is not just important — it’s absolutely crucial. As russia continues its relentless assault on cities and infrastructure, the urgent need for humanitarian aid and infrastructure repair becomes increasingly critical.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors, volunteers, team members, partners, and active supporters. Together, our combined efforts have created a meaningful impact, with over 86 million of aid delivered to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Since February 2022, we have reached these significant milestones:

The Impact of Your Donations

Financial Update: Collected/Spent

In 2023, Nova Ukraine achieved significant progress, expanding our reach and capabilities as an organization and focusing on long-term and scalable initiatives and solutions across various sectors. Our projects included psychological rehabilitation for women and children, and developing alternative energy solutions to bolster the weakened energy infrastructure. Notably, we supported job creation through the local manufacturing of medical equipment and provided grants to small businesses.

Inside the Report

  • Medical Aid: Over 270,000 units of various medications delivered in Ukraine, supporting more than 500 medical institutions. Vital equipment and partnerships have brought lifesaving care to thousands.
  • Evacuations: We continue to support lifesaving evacuations in many regions, including the major emergency response to the Nova Kakhovka disaster in June 2023, and rescues in the Kherson region throughout the year.
  • Winter Projects: Since 2022, russian air strikes have been targeting critical energy infrastructure in Ukraine, resulting in power outages and homes without heating. Nova Ukraine helped open over 100 warming stations across the country, supplied portable heaters manufactured in Ukraine to those who need them, and implemented a pilot alternative energy solution program to support a school building and a bomb shelter.
  • Education: With over 40% of Ukrainian children relying solely on remote education, Nova Ukraine has stepped up to enhance educational opportunities. This includes the opening of after-school educational centers, sending electronic devices to vulnerable families for online learning access, and supplying Ukrainian books to libraries.
  • Supporting Small Businesses: We empowered local bakeries that delivered bread to hard hit regions, and provided holiday gifts to children.
  • Partner Network in Ukraine: With over 3,000 global partners in our network, Nova Ukraine has been focusing on strengthening the most impactful and efficient partnerships in 2023.
  • Cultural and Advocacy Efforts: Highlights from our “i am u are” exhibition and successful advocacy summits in Washington, DC.

Ohio Becomes Fifth US State to Tackle Russia’s Abduction of Ukrainian Children

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) Nova Ukraine applauds the Ohio State Senate for becoming the fifth U.S. state legislature to introduce a resolution condemning Russia’s forced abduction of Ukrainian children. The bipartisan bill (SCR 21) introduced by State Senators Thomas F. Patton (R-Strongsville) and Kent Smith (D-Euclid) “condemns the Russian Federation for the wrongful and illegal abduction, forcible transfer, and subsequent illegal adoption and indoctrination of children from Ukraine.” Ohio joins Maryland, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Wisconsin to take up this issue. To date, only Wisconsin has held a full vote and adopted the resolution. Nova Ukraine Director of Advocacy Aleksandr Krapivkin says:

When the Pain Becomes a Part of You

“Nova Ukraine's new Vector of Resilience joint pilot project helps Ukraine's veteran support specialists address burnout and secondary traumatic stress.” The program's first residential trainings, launched by Nova Ukraine and its partners, were recently held in Ukraine's Volyn Oblast. Mariia, a support specialist, almost didn't attend. Leaving the veterans and families she supported for three days filled her with guilt she couldn't shake. She worried about how they would manage without her. But when she found herself among psychologists, social workers, healthcare professionals, and community specialists who shared the same responsibilities, something changed.
