These tools keep patients and caregivers safe during procedures requiring X-ray imaging, empowering healthcare workers to give patients top-quality diagnosis, treatment, and care. The new aprons and collars protect patients and healthcare workers from X-ray overexposure in video urodynamics, the process of identifying and treating potentially deadly issues of the urinary system and bladder. It calls for specialists to stay by a patient’s side from the beginning of the imaging process to the end of the procedure. Long-term, hands-on care like this produces the best outcomes, but without protective gear, it risks exposing patients and doctors to dangerous levels of radiation. With the new gear, doctors in Ukraine can deliver best-in-class diagnosis and treatment, improving current and future outcomes across the national healthcare system.

Nova Ukraine CEO visits destroyed medical warehouse in Lviv On November 19, during one of the largest drone and missile attacks in months, Russia destroyed one of Nova Ukraine’s key medical warehouses in Lviv. The facility stored medical humanitarian supplies intended for hospitals, clinics and frontline healthcare teams across Ukraine. No Nova Ukraine staff were harmed. Nova Ukraine CEO Ambassador Erin McKee was in Ukraine during the attack. She visited Lviv soon after to see the damage firsthand. “My first feeling was relief that none of our personnel were harmed”, she highlighted, assuring that any other losses are replaceable.

Early this morning, Russia launched one of the largest drone-and-missile attacks in months across Ukraine — 476 drones and 48 missiles striking residential buildings, energy facilities, and logistics hubs in freezing temperatures. At least 25 civilians, including three children, were killed and more than 80 injured. Our hearts are with every family affected by today’s violence. During this nationwide assault, one of Nova Ukraine’s medical warehouses was damaged. No Nova Ukraine staff were harmed. “We are profoundly grateful that our team is safe,” said Ambassador Erin E. McKee, CEO of Nova Ukraine. “Strikes like this are designed to break humanitarian supply chains just as winter begins. They will not succeed.” The warehouse contained medical supplies and in-kind donations designated to support hospitals and clinics across Ukraine. Losing any portion of this inventory creates immediate challenges for medical teams already working under immense pressure. As Oksana Gologorskaya, VP of Medical Projects, noted, “Our partners count on these supplies every single day. Losing even part of this stock creates immediate gaps for medical teams working under daily missiles. We are already rerouting equipment and preparing replacements so that medical personnel and healthcare facilities do not face interruptions in care.”

In the first one, Kateryna Kovalenko, Nova Ukraine Vice President for Strategic Alliances, spoke about the organization’s long-term work in the medical field and its model of sustainable partnerships. She emphasized that Nova Ukraine operated as a hub that united global NGOs, donors, businesses, doctors, and social services around one purpose: saving lives and rebuilding Ukraine’s medical system.

October 6, 2025 – New Heaven, CT Doctors United for Ukraine (DU4U), in partnership with Nova Ukraine and with the support of the Yale World Partnership Fund, launched a groundbreaking one-month observership at Yale School of Medicine (YSM) and Yale New Haven Hospital. The program brings Ukrainian physicians to study advanced approaches to treating chronic pain and integrating mental health care. “Relieving pain is a fundamental duty of any doctor. Especially now, for Ukrainians with physical and mental trauma from the ongoing war, resulting in chronic impairments,” says Andrey Zinchuk, Vice President of DU4U, Medicine, YSM. “We are partnering with Ukrainian physicians to advance evidence-based chronic pain treatment there and to learn from them about innovations forged during this war that help people in other conflicts.” “War in Ukraine caused a surge in complex trauma, amputations, and chronic pain syndromes among military and civilian populations. Chronic pain is an especially complex medical issue, affecting the daily lives of trauma survivors,” said Oksana Gologorska, Vice President of Medical Projects at Nova Ukraine. “In Ukraine, this field is changing in response to unprecedented need, through updating care standards, training specialists, and modernizing facilities, however the current capacity does not match the level of patient needs.
