Over 220,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in the U.S. as of December 2022. Displaced by the Putin regime’s war in Ukraine, they are settling in communities across the U.S. Now they’re turning to you for help.
Nova Ukraine’s Emergency Housing Team has worked tirelessly to find temporary and long-term accommodations for refugees.

What We Do
Emergency Housing Team has provided resources for more than 1,300 Ukrainian refugee families in the U.S. In total, we supported 2,100+ adults and 1,100+ children.
Our help to Ukrainian families includes the following:
- placing refugees in free housing from verified American hosts
- connecting refugees with local housing programs and rentals from refugee-friendly landlords
- assisting with transportation
- running a shelter in Orange County, California
- working with the Adopt-a-Family program to support refugees financially
- providing free computers for children
- connecting refugees with offices of refugee resettlement
- helping with job search
- participating in local festivals of Ukrainian communities
- resolving conflicts with host families
Our work has been reported on by Voice of America: Volunteer movement in California.
How You Can Support Refugees
You can sign up to host refugees if you have a spare bedroom or a guest house.
Ukrainian refugees wanting to come to the U.S. under the U4U program must first have a U.S. person willing to file the paperwork to support them. You can research the requirements here. We can match supporters with Ukrainian family who needs them.
We seek volunteers with various backgrounds, talents, skill levels, and expertise. Contact us if you want to join our team.
Donate to Support Our Efforts
You can donate to a family or individual residing in Ukraine or a Ukrainian refugee family in the United States. After we send the funds to recipients, they send a photo or a personal message in return. In addition to the benefit of making a tax-free donation, the program allows you to experience the real impact of your contribution in a very personal and direct way.
Monetary funds remain the most impactful contribution individuals can make toward helping refugees. These funds are used for evacuations, shelters, food and water, and critical legal and medical support to help refugees find their way.
Please select “refugee support and resettlement” to allocate these funds to our refugee efforts.
Help a refugee family start their new life in the USA by donating a used car. All donations are tax-deductible. Cars must be in a running and safe condition.
Help Ukrainian Families Stay Connected! Computers 2 Kids (C2K) and Nova Ukraine have partnered to provide Ukrainian refugees in the US with refurbished and deeply discounted laptops/desktops. Your donated electronics will receive a second chance to help a Ukrainian family stay connected during their transition to the United States.
Please include the Technology Donation Form when mailing your donation.
