Scout Camps Help Develop the Leaders of Tomorrow

Nova Ukraine helps Ukraine's next generation build confidence and leadership skills through scholarships to Plast Ukraine and Motley Raccoons summer camps. The future of Ukraine will someday be in the hands of its children, who will soon be the leaders tasked with rebuilding their country. Nova Ukraine supports the development of these young members of society in multiple ways, including through several education initiatives such as this year’s Engineering Week, which reached more than 195,000 students in grades K-12. Just as important as developing their minds, however, is nurturing their spirits and ensuring that they enter adulthood with confidence, hope, and a deep appreciation for their homeland. That is where Nova Ukraine’s partnership with the outdoor leadership camps is playing a key role. This past summer, Nova Ukraine provided full-ride scholarships for 180 children to attend Plast Ukraine summer camps, where children ages 2-18 participated in outdoor adventures. They learned practical skills such as first aid, cooking over campfires, and navigating wilderness trails, and many gained experience leading their own squads.

Ukrainian Students Excel in Space Robotics Competition

Perhaps those wondering what the future holds for Ukraine should look to outer space. The Space Robotics team from Ukrainian Catholic University had an impressive performance at the 2026 European Rover Challenge last month, marking the first time a Ukrainian team has participated in the international competition and shining a spotlight on the skills of Ukraine’s best and brightest students. The Ukrainian team, with the support of Nova Ukraine and other sponsors, reached the finals of the competition, finishing in the top 20 among 124 other teams from across Europe. The event took place Sept. 4-6 in Krakow, Poland. The competition required the teams’ rovers to perform several tasks that simulated a Mars mission. The vehicles navigated across rough terrain, collected samples using a robotic arm, and worked alongside a drone to scout the area. The competition tested the performance of the entire system, including communications, navigation, mechanics, electronics, and autonomous behavior.

Michigan Senate Takes a Stand on Abducted Ukrainian Children

LANSING, MI—The Michigan State Senate yesterday unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution (SR 141) condemning the abduction and forced deportation of Ukrainian children by the Russian Federation. Nova Ukraine, Yoopers for Ukraine, and other community groups played a significant role in passing the resolution. Nova Ukraine applauds Michigan State Senators Chang (D) and McBroom (R) for introducing the resolution, and we look forward to its upcoming introduction in the Michigan House. While a similar resolution has passed at the federal level, Michigan is now the sixth state to act. How Pétanque is Helping Ukraine’s Veterans Build a League of Their Own On September 19-20, Lviv’s Stryiskyi Park transformed into a full-blown sports arena, with Ukrainian flags snapping overhead, families and coaches packed along the sidelines, and veteran support groups cheering from the edges of 25 specially built gravel lanes. This was the Grand Final of the 2026 All-Ukrainian Veterans Pétanque League: the year’s fourth and decisive tournament, and by far the biggest. 50 veteran teams, including 165 competitors, from 20 cities across Ukraine, came to compete hard and stand shoulder to shoulder with others who understand exactly what they’ve been through. Organized by our partner NGO Marlog-Caducei, supported by Nova Ukraine, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Lviv City Council, the tournament drew record crowds, as the trophy was captured by the Lviv team, Nezlamni, Nasha Gryae. From Eco Picnic to Eco Film Festival

With Nova Ukraine’s support for the second year in a row, Ukrainian nonprofit Chysto.De?!—whose name translates as “Clean.Where?!”—is expanding environmental education and creating new opportunities for Ukrainian eco-cinema. At this year’s ECO FILM FESTIVAL, organized by Chysto.De?! on August 15–16 at MC6 Creative Residence in Slavske, visitors watched Ukrainian and international environmental documentaries, attended lectures and public discussions, joined hands-on workshops, and explored a market of sustainable local crafts. Children and teenagers spent the weekend learning the basics of documentary storytelling, filming nature around them, experimenting with stop-motion animation, and presenting their own short films at the closing ceremony. For Nova Ukraine project manager Yevheniya Chuchko, it was the part of the festival that stayed with her most.

The First Step Toward a Ukraine Without Pain

Ten Ukrainian military doctors complete the first pain management course of the Ukraine Without Pain project, supported by Nova Ukraine and hosted at Feofaniya Hospital. When a doctor learns a new way to treat pain, that knowledge can travel far beyond a training room. It can shape the care they provide to patients and the practices they share with colleagues. That is the idea behind the Ukraine Without Pain project: teams teaching teams to strengthen medical care for people affected by the war. With the support of Nova Ukraine and several other partners, the first training course in the project’s “Pain Management for Patients with Combat-Related Injuries” track has been completed at Feofaniya Hospital. Preserving Ukrainian Culture

Nova Ukraine's collaboration with Ukraine's Ministry of Culture helps fund national TysyachoVesna initiative for Ukrainian arts and culture. Nova Ukraine is helping ensure that Ukrainian culture continues to thrive despite the ongoing Russian assault. The organization signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine in June, and their first collaborative effort proved to be an inspiring success. Nova Ukraine contributed funding for TysyachoVesna (translation: “Thousand-Spring”), a large-scale initiative to create and support competitive Ukrainian cultural products in the fields of cinema, music, theater, animation, and visual arts. More than 180 independent experts evaluated 2,634 cultural projects that were applying for funding under the program. Of those applications, 1,227 projects advanced to the final pitching and 546 were recommended for government support, according to Ukranews.com. Nova Ukraine provided funding for the work of the independent experts, who ensure a transparent, professional, and high-quality process for evaluating the cultural projects.

A-Sho Safe Inclusive Learning Space

The A-Sho Safe and Inclusive Learning Space in Kharkiv has exciting news to share about its summer programs this year. Founded in December 2023 by A-Sho Kharkiv as an implementing partner with support from Nova Ukraine, A-Sho Safe and Inclusive Learning Space provides a wide range of learning opportunities for children in Kharkiv aged 5-17. Students include displaced families, children of defenders, and any child in need of a safe, supportive place to learn. As of June 2026, the learning space has hosted more than 11,000 child visits, including 2,121 in the first half of 2026 alone. A-Sho Learning Space combines after-school STEM and humanities education with creative projects, sports, cultural programs, and psychological support to build a safe place for students to socialize, play, and learn. These activities help children recover from the impacts of war, address educational losses, and build skills for the future. A new solar power system at a high school in Chernihiv Oblast will help keep heat, water, classrooms, and its shelter running through Ukraine’s hardest winters, giving students something children everywhere should be able to count on: school. Last winter, a school in Chernihiv Oblast had more days without power than with it. When the grid went down, the generators on site weren’t strong enough to power the building. Heating failed. The shelter went cold. Students who should have been in class were logging on remotely instead — if they could log on at all. This winter will be different.

How Nova Ukraine's Warming Project kept stabilization points running through the winter of 2025–2026 There is a place in eastern Ukraine, roughly five kilometers from the front line, where the electricity has been gone for a month. The wounded keep arriving. The medics keep working. And the lights stay on, because of a generator. Kateryna, who visited the site recently for Nova Ukraine's press office, described what she saw plainly. “Generators aren't just saving the day,” she said. “They're the only thing keeping this location powered so it doesn't lose electricity.” This is the work of the Warming Project.

Nova Ukraine Provides New Tools and Training for Rescue Workers Across Ukraine

From January to June 2026, Nova Ukraine provided new tools and training for the rescue workers who save lives in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression in Ukraine. In partnership with Ukrainian Firefighters, a charity providing funding, training, and expertise to Ukraine first responders, Nova Ukraine provided rescue teams with a new course in all-terrain driving, preparing them to reach and help victims of Russian attacks with maximum success. Nova Ukraine also donated 400 state-of-the-art firehoses to fire departments across the country, equipping teams to address the destruction caused by Russian attacks and develop effective rescue strategies that will serve the people of Ukraine for years to come. All-Terrain Training for Rapid Response Teams Rescuers from the State Emergency Service came together for hands-on training in the all-terrain and hazardous driving skills necessary to safely protect, rescue, and care for victims of Russian aggression in Ukraine. Attendees included teams from the Main Mobile Rescue Center of Rapid Response, as well as Mobile Rescue Centers in Sumy, Odesa, and Donetsk-Luhansk.
