Five Ukrainians from Kherson Found Refuge
“We are from Kherson, Ukraine. The city is now occupied by the Russian military, who rob and murder our Ukrainian people. We left when the city started being bombed and overtaken by Russian soldiers. And we are very glad that we could stay alive. Our family is five people: me, my husband, and two girls, 4 and 9 years old. Our 65-year-old grandma is also with us. We are so grateful that Katerina told us about the program and that we participated in it!
We received housing, food, clothes, and all necessities. We really needed this help, because we left in our city all that we had. I worked as a manager in a large dealership, and my husband was a businessman. We left everything and had to flee and start our life anew. Thank you to all involved and who is helping families like ours in this challenging time of our life. This is very valuable to us. We are very grateful, and God bless you!”
Mom and Daughter Found Refuge
“Hello! My name is Antonina. My family arrived in the USA a month ago. Through Facebook I found volunteers whose help was just unreal. For a long time I could not believe that this happened in reality. My heartfelt gratitude to the girls and to the whole team! They are all our angels! They found free housing for us in the USA, and even offered several variants. Then they offered financial help in paying airfare – something I couldn’t even believe was possible. But miracles do happen! We are now housed with an American woman. We really appreciate the comfort and ambience she created for us. I got a sense of stability. My English is very bad, and she does not know Russian or Ukrainian, but we still understand each other. There is a long road of integration ahead of us, but my child is now safe. I am very grateful to all from the earth to the moon and back for all that you’ve done and do! It is simply unreal! Peace to all!”
Mom, Dad and Two Kids Found Refuge
“We very nearly gave up trying to find housing because this is a different country, different rules, different language. But our path led us to a very pleasant woman Tatiana, who responded to our request for help. Thanks to her we are now placed in an American family. A huge thanks to you for not keeping a distance. With gratitude, a family from Ukraine.”
Found Refugee in a Church Shelter
“Hello! We are very grateful to Nova Ukraine for the help in housing and establishing a new life in America. We are also grateful to Orange Coast Unitarian Universalist Church that housed us for two months.”
Mom, Dad and a Kid Found Refuge
“Our family is very grateful to Nova Ukraine organization and in particular to volunteer Tatiana. She organized a shelter for 6 families. Thanks to her, we have a roof over our heads, as we could not rent right away both because of limited finances and because of renting requirements. We were able to apply for benefits and registered our children for school and kindergarten. We were brought all necessities for a comfortable stay: kitchen basics, small appliances, clothes, and shoes. And bicycles for children. Even food is offered. Thank you very much for your kind heart and deeds. This kindness will return to everyone.”
Family of Five Found Welcoming Hosts
“I want to express a boundless gratitude to the team of volunteers, who helped us make first steps in the new country. They found a wonderful, beautiful family, who housed all 5 members of our family. Thanks to the work of volunteers, we were able to spend the first weeks of our new life without problems of trying to find a roof over our heads. The family who let us stay, provided sleeping spaces for all family members, and also gave us a car until we bought ours. The team are unbelievable people, who are doing great deeds for people forced by the war into a difficult situation of immigration. Thank you.”
Family of Five Found Housing
“A huge thank you to the whole team. We were given a house for three days. We were waiting for our airplane. There were 6 of us, and we were very tired after the long road and sleeping in refugee camps. Because of that, the team’s help was especially valuable. We did not expect such help, and we are very grateful to all who participated financially and with organizing.”
Welcome to America!
“We are a family from eastern Ukraine (Donetsk and Kharkiv). Thank you very much for helping us find an American family who had become a second family for us. We did not expect Americans are such friendly people, real humans, able to share all that they have with strangers. Thank you to volunteers who do good deeds for Ukrainians. We honestly advise you to use their help if you need it. We believe in the best, and together we will overcome any adversities. Only forward, to victory.”
Mom and Son Found Refuge
“If not for your support and help, my son and I don’t know where we would be. Thanks to your volunteers (Tatiana – a charming and kind person) we hold together and want to move forward! Thank you!!!”
Mom and Son Making Friends in America
“My son and I are very grateful to the Nova Ukraine organization! In a time that was difficult for us, Tatiana (a volunteer from your organization) came to our aid. We could not find housing, we were very afraid of what to do! Thanks to Tatiana and your organization, we now have a place to live, and we found new friends! And we want to move forward!!! Precious support!!! Thank you very much! A huge thanks to Tatiana!”
