On September 26, 2024, President Joe Biden announced a $7.9 billion allocation to bolster Ukraine’s defense against russian aggression.
Announced during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House, this allocation underscores the America’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s fight for freedom. Biden stated, “Through these actions, my message is clear: The United States will provide Ukraine with the support it needs to win this war.” Included are additional Patriot air defense systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, long-range Joint Standoff Weapons (JSOW), and support for Ukraine’s defense infrastructure.
As the U.S. ramps up military assistance, Nova Ukraine continues providing a broad variety of aid and services, focusing on saving lives, recovery and rehabilitation. What started as grassroots efforts in 2014 has grown into a leading organization, delivering over $106 million in aid and forming essential partnerships to address Ukraine’s most urgent needs. Both defense and humanitarian support remain vital to Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Nova Ukraine’s Direct Impact on the Ground
Nova Ukraine has been tireless in providing aid and services to to those affected by the war. Our organization has delivered aid to thousands of Ukrainians, providing critical support through food, medicine, and other life-saving supplies. To date, more than half of Nova Ukraine’s budget has been spent on medical support projects, including the shipment of tons of medical supplies and equipment to hospitals and first responders across Ukraine. In 2024 so far, Nova Ukraine purchased over 45000 life-saving tourniquets for delivery in Ukraine.
In total, our teams have shipped hundreds of tons of supplies to Ukraine, making a tangible difference in the lives of those near the frontlines and in hard-hit civilian areas. Our work ensures that aid reaches those in need swiftly, even in the most dangerous regions.
Nova Ukraine’s advocacy mission has been a cornerstone of our work since our founding, and it has become more critical with each passing year. Our volunteers have been instrumental in pushing forward every Ukraine aid bill passed by Congress since 2022, working hand-in-hand with lawmakers in both the House and Senate. We co-founded the American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU), which plays a pivotal role in organizing the Ukraine Action Summits (UAS) in Washington, D.C. These summits have proven pivotal to securing long-term support for Ukraine.

This latest aid package shows that our efforts, along with our partners, are making a big impact and we will continue to stand with Ukraine every step of the way.
Dr. Igor L. Markov, the Nova Ukraine director leading advocacy efforts, echoed this sentiment: “Each step we take in securing bipartisan support among the public and on the Hill brings Ukraine closer to victory. The recent, fifth UAS demonstrated just how critical these efforts are, and we’re not stopping until Ukraine gets the aid needed for victory.”
During the fourth UAS in April 2024, Speaker Johnson announced a legislative compromise that paved the way for a $61 billion Ukraine aid bill. The fifth UAS just concluded in September, and it was no coincidence that President Biden’s $7.9B allocation was unveiled the next day, underlining the impact of advocacy efforts.
