A major russian missile attack across Ukraine on Monday killed at least 31 people and injured over 150, including a direct strike on the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in Kyiv.

Emergency crews are searching the rubble for victims. The attack, which involved over 40 missiles targeting five cities, caused significant damage to public infrastructure and residential areas. The hospital attack led to its evacuation, with significant injuries reported among patients and staff.

About Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital

Okhmatdyt, the largest pediatric, non-military diagnostic and treatment institution in Ukraine and one of the largest in Europe stands as a symbol of hope for thousands of children. This hospital saves lives by treating children with cancer and providing essential care and hope to countless families across Ukraine. Annually, up to 18,000 children receive treatment at Okhmatdyt, around 20,000 receive emergency care in the trauma center, and approximately 7,000 surgeries are performed.

Impact of the Attack

The attack has caused severe damage to intensive care units, operating rooms, and the oncology department. The strike destroyed the building where children received dialysis, crucial for their survival. Many are still trapped under the rubble, and the exact number of victims is currently unknown. This is one of russia’s gravest war crimes since the full-scale invasion began, and the number of victims is expected to rise.
