[March, 2021] Oxygen Concentrators
We collected significant funding during fundraisers in December and January, and now are focusing on purchasing oxygen concentrators for most critical regions such as Ivano-Frankivsk.
[December, 2020 – January, 2021] Helping Ukraine Cope with the Second Wave
🔴 As the deadly infection spreads rapidly in Ukraine, we are doubling down on crisis response. With our new fundraiser, we will help hospitals that lack life-saving equipment and medical labs that continue to operate in dilapidated buildings.
🏥 Half of the pneumonia patients in Ukrainian hospitals require oxygen supply, thus we will first focus on portable oxygen concentrators. This equipment is safe, flexible and cheap to operate. It can be used when transporting critical patients, is in high demand at small and mid-sized hospitals, and provides backup in hospitals with oxygen infrastructure. According to Patients of Ukraine, at least 3,000 additional oxygen concentrators are needed for hospitals across Ukraine — around $3,150,000 to cover the current need.

[November 13, 2020] Renovation at the Public Health Center in Kyiv
🇺🇦 As Ukraine is fighting the second wave, hospitals and laboratory facilities are under increasing stress. Test capacity in Ukraine remains insufficient and must be increased. To address this challenge, we partnered with Snap Ukraine (donor) and Patients of Ukraine (local coordinator) to fund renovation at the Public Health Center in Kyiv – the leading state laboratory for virus testing that verifies the work of other labs.
🇺🇦 Nova Ukraine is happy to report that the renovation is now complete in the COVID-19 reference laboratory, bringing the lab into compliance with the WHO requirements for safety and increasing its throughout. Separate partitions were established for the “clean zone” and the zone with high contamination risk. New windows and doors were installed to improve working conditions during hot and cold times of the year. [Source]

[August 12, 2020] We Acquired 17 Oxygen Concentrators for Frontline Hospitals across Ukraine
🇺🇦 Our most recent COVID-related project acquired 17 oxygen concentrators and delivered them to the hospitals that needed them most. Working closely with Patients of Ukraine (Пацієнти України) and hospitals across Ukraine, we’ve chosen a device model familiar to medical personnel, so as to minimize training and simplify maintenance. These concentrators will replace bulky, heavy, and dangerous oxygen tanks. After the pandemic, the concentrators will remain in hospitals and continue saving lives. The full list of hospitals can be found here.

[May 10, 2020] Wrapping Up Facebook Fundraiser. Thanks to our donors we raised $100,000
🇺🇦 🎊 Thanks to our generous donors and dedicated volunteers we achieved our goal and raised a total of $101,177 in donations – almost 17 times the original goal of $6k. This includes:
- $61,862 raised through our Facebook fundraiser
- $5,765 raised through Facebook birthday fundraisers
- $13,567 through PayPal
- $13,983 through corporate donations
- $6,000 initial grant from Nova Ukraine.
🎯 We have funded personal protection for doctors in 17 regions of Ukraine. Our deliveries went to hospitals in Lviv, Zakarpattya, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, Lugansk (Ukraine control territories), Mykolayiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, Kyiv, Kirovograd, Cherkasy, and Vinnytsya.
🎯 Together with our partner organizations: Patients of Ukraine, Razom, Station Kharkiv, Healthy Children, Kyiv Volunteer HQ, and Ukrainians in Toronto we funded a total of 23,204 items of personal protective equipment. This includes 11,370 FFP2 and FFP3 Respirators, 2,409 Biohazard Suits, 1,800 Aprons, 3,300 masks, 1,000 Gloves, 600 Medica gowns, 25 goggles, 100 face shields, 600 medical caps, and 200 shoe covers.
🎯 From the $101,177 we have spent $65,000 so far, and more protective equipment will be purchased in the coming weeks.
🎯 This provided critical support to hospitals facing the first wave of coronavirus patients. Some of those hospitals filled all their beds just one week after the PPE was delivered. Of course, donors and volunteers cannot permanently replace the funding from the Ministry of Health, but through timely, focused efforts, we managed to provide a bridge of support before the government ramped up funding for hospital equipment and materials.

[May 2, 2020 – May 10, 2020] Patients of Ukraine Updates
Project Update:
🎯 A total of 4255 FPP2 respirators were purchased together with Patients of Ukraine to distribute to 14 Ukrainian hospitals in 8 regions of Ukraine: Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Kyiv, Rivne, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, and Zakarpattia. A full list of hospitals together with distributed quantities can be found here.
🎯 Patients of Ukraine were able to purchase 2,000 bio-costumes to protect doctors and nurses, and a large batch helped us negotiate a good price. The hospitals we selected had less than 4 days of supplies left, but also many medics exposed to infected patients. A large fraction of those bio-costumes were sent to a regional hospital in Chernivets’ka oblast, which has the highest daily growth of positive cases. This shipment will help protect 24 doctors and 56 nurses for 6 days.

🎯 Lviv Regional Children’s Hospital “OKHMATDYT” got more protective equipment for their doctors.

🎯 Thanks to partnership with Patients of Ukraine PPE supplies for 1 months for Ivano-Frankivsk were purchased while Sumy is next in the line. Here are some of the supplies we’ve purchased: isolation gown (600), isolation gown (900), respirator FFP2 (800), goggles (25). We will post a full report after all supplies are received and signed off by the hospital.
🎯 The next hot spot we will support is the Sumy oblast, where infections sharply increased last week. The region is now in top 10 by total confirmed cases including 2 fatalities.
Fundraising:
💛 Progress: We reached our goal of $40,000 and set a new goal of $100,000.
💛 Why? Together with our partner Patients of Ukraine we’re constantly monitoring and evaluating the situation in Ukraine. There are 241 hospitals in the first wave to accept patients with COVID-19 symptoms. Even our lowest estimates show that more than $1M is needed to provide just the basic protection for the first wave hospitals only for the first few weeks. We want to help to cover the cost at least partially.
Thank you Vadym Krasnooky (Mad Heads Band) and Oleh Sobchuk (SKAI Band) for your Support!
[April 2, 2020] First grant to Patients of Ukraine & First Supplies in Lviv
Nova Ukraine wants to share the great news — our partner Пацієнти України has already received the initial $10,000 grant.

Nova Ukraine has coordinated efforts with other donors and selected the Ivano-Frankivsk region as our focus this week: it is one of the regions with the highest number of COVID-19 suspected and confirmed cases.
Overall, the confirmed COVID-19 cases and PPE supply are changing every hour and we are leveraging our partners’ presence all over Ukraine to collect and analyze data to make informed decisions regarding the next steps.
Also, the first 150 high-protection respirators arrived in Lviv Regional Children’s Hospital.
[March 30, 2020] Signed Partnership with Patients of Ukraine
As a result of the tremendous success of this fundraiser, we recently signed an agreement to partner with a charitable fund Patients of Ukraine (Пацієнти України). The charitable fund will coordinate and support the purchasing of PPE for medical workers and will help us expand to more regions in Ukraine. Patients of Ukraine can effectively use the funds to help the areas that are most in need.

[March 28, 2020] Project Update
We’d like to report that the first grant of $6,000 is wired to Lviv today!
The money will be used to purchase personal protective equipment for the healthcare workers in two hospitals: Lviv Children’s Hospital (Охматдит) and Lviv Infectious Diseases Hospital.
[March 28, 2020] Project Update

Nova Ukraine team would like to thank our supporters for helping us reach our goal so quickly! We are increasing the fundraiser goal to $20,000.
For the amount raised over $6,000, our team will explore ways we can help in other areas of Ukraine.
[March 27, 2020 ] Protect Ukrainian Doctors from Coronavirus
We’re seeing more and more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine as the testing is ramping up. Healthcare workers are at the forefront of the fight against the virus. Every day they risk picking up the infection from their numerous patients. The doctors critically need personal protective equipment (PPE) like medical masks, respirators, gloves and gowns to protect themselves from the disease. Unfortunately due to high demand, many hospitals are not able to equip their staff with sufficient supply of PPE — this is the case not just in Ukraine, but in many countries (including US).
Local production of PPE is ramping up, but it also needs financial support. Nova Ukraine is starting a fundraiser to purchase PPE for Ukrainian healthcare workers. Nova Ukraine will double the first $6000 in donations!
The funds collected will be transferred to Ukrainian hospitals in Kyiv and Lviv to fulfill the urgent need for PPE.
Together we can help protect Ukrainian doctors from coronavirus!
