For over five years now, the Ukrainian community of San Francisco and the Silicon Valley has been providing aid to Ukrainian Army soldiers that endured severe spinal injuries when fighting the war in Eastern Ukraine. Some of the critically needed items are wheelchairs and anti-decubitus pillows, as well as personal medical hygiene items. These are bought separately and shipped to the injured directly.
We couldn’t have provided soldiers with these important items without your help and support. However, the situation in Ukraine has turned to the worse. Some of the items needed have either become too expensive, or disappeared from the Ukrainian market entirely.
Sergiy Titarenko, one of the rehabilitated soldiers says:
Time goes by, and the war goes on. Now we are in the midst of a global pandemic. Physical battles have long been over for us, but our whole lives have turned into a fight for survival. Every day we struggle to stay alive and help each other. We need special arrangements and a controlled medical environment even for our sleep. Missing that for one night can lead to a disaster. Not being able to afford prescribed medications and equipment is often devastating to us and our families. And so it’s BECAUSE OF YOU that we can still maintain a reasonable quality of life. I want to thank everyone who has ever contributed, who hasn’t forgotten about us. Thank you to everyone who cares. After the hardships and the battles we have faced, you are the ones who help us keep our spirits up. Knowing that there is someone out there who cares about you makes us want to live our lives to the fullest, to help others, to be a valuable part of the society. Thank you, my friends!
The cost of 1 cup of coffee can pay for the medical items and equipment for one person for 2-3 days. Please join us in donating $5-10 to significantly improve our veterans’ quality of living.
