Nova Ukraine supports development of the accessible Ukrainian education during the war. We work to ensure the access to quality and safe education to orphans, children from large families, low-income families, internally displaced families, as well as children with chronic diseases.
Our Current Initiatives
Supporting STEM Education
Since 2014 Nova Ukraine has funded a number of STEM classes, summer camps, vocational lectures and other activities where such children can interact. In 2023 we spent about $600,000 for such projects, and we aim to double our impact in 2024. Notably, our educational initiatives attracted support from esteemed donors, including Fields Medal winner Volodymyr Drinfeld.
Zmistovno Learning Centers
The “Nova Ukraine” Foundation in partnership with The Howard Buffett Foundation has opened 30 extracurricular learning centers in Ukraine, which provide children with opportunities to engage in various educational programs, leisure activities, and peer socialization. We also support existing organizations that provide extracurricular education. The learning centers will be free, and open to visitors for six months, up to late October 2023.
Student Spaceflight Experiments Program
Nova Ukraine is supporting the participation of Ukrainian students in the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP), enabling their participation in a mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
The SSEP stands out as a stellar program for advancing scientific and STEM education, dedicated to nurturing the next wave of scientists and innovators. This initiative presents an opportunity for students to conduct experiments in the microgravity environment of the ISS.
Donation of Digital Devices to Ukrainian Kids
Nova Ukraine and our partners are committed to providing students with the tools and resources needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world. We are accepting new and gently used chromebooks to be distributed to classrooms and community centers across Ukraine.
Thanks to our supporters and partners, Nova Ukraine has successfully collected and distributed over 2,000 notebooks to students and their teachers in Ukraine. We are certain that with your help, over the next few months, this number will increase exponentially.
Rebuilding Ukrainian Schools
Nova Ukraine is launching our partnership and a co-fundraising with SavED – charitable foundation aiming to rebuild and improve educational spaces for kids in Ukraine, starting with a first project in Chernihiv. Nova Ukraine’s support of savED’s initiative will arrange bomb shelters in the school facilities, rehabilitate damaged buildings, and create new up-to-date educational spaces in Chernihiv.
