Second Wind – Ukrainian Spring Film Marathon Opening Screening

Ukrainian Spring Film Marathon Opening Screening
SECOND WIND | March 14
From the frontlines of Ukraine to the roof of Africa. A film about five Ukrainian veterans who redefined what’s possible.
What happens when defenders who’ve given everything — limbs, certainty, youth — decide they still have something left to prove?
Second Wind follows four amputee soldiers and a severely wounded female sniper as they attempt to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. The film documents the raw, inner transformations: overcoming pain, rethinking the trauma of war, and finding power in brotherhood. Their journey is a profound act of defiance and a powerful symbol of Ukraine’s indomitable spirit, of the hope emerging from the ashes of war, and a universal testament to the resolve of the human spirit.
This film aims to inspire. It replaces pity with admiration. War fatigue with human triumph. Resignation with action.

It’s a community gathering with expert introductions, post-film discussions, and the kind of conversations that stay with you long after the credits roll. Hosted at C Ukraine Cultural Showcase in downtown San Francisco, this Cinema Club project creates a space where film becomes dialogue. With the support of the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, we are building a regular cultural forum that strengthens Ukrainian-American ties through art, discussion, and shared experience.
