The Nova Ukraine team is here in Poland for the Ukraine Recovery Conference with leaders from all around the world.

We’re making the case that recovery cannot wait. And that Ukraine doesn’t have to choose between urgent relief and long-term recovery - both can happen at the same time.

We’re looking forward to building new partnerships and taking concrete steps to help rebuild Ukraine.

Jumping over fire, weaving flower wreaths, searching for a magical fern flower that only blooms for one night, all in the middle of the night. Sounds like a quest, right? But this is Ivana Kupala Night, one of Ukraine's oldest and most beloved holidays.

Celebrated on the night of June 23–24, Ivana Kupala blends Christian and ancient pagan traditions that have been shared for generations.

Girls weave wreaths and set them afloat on rivers, watching where the current carries them. People once believed this could reveal signs of love or fate. Bonfires light up the riverbanks, and people jump through the flames for good luck. Deep in the forest, a legend remains: a fern flower that is said to bloom only for a moment at midnight, offering hidden knowledge to anyone who finds it.

Happy Ivana Kupala to all who celebrate 💛💙

How does preparation for winter begin?

For many communities across Ukraine, it begins long before temperatures drop. After another winter of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, communities are already preparing for the cold months ahead. Heating systems, schools, hospitals, and essential facilities need repairs and strengthening before temperatures drop.

As part of our BUILD pillar, Nova Ukraine supports resilient infrastructure that helps communities keep essential services running under pressure.

With support from Nova Ukraine, Charity Fund "Save Ukrainians," recently modernized the heating system at a preschool in the Kirovohrad region. The previous boiler had served the school for more than 25 years and could no longer be relied upon to keep classrooms warm throughout the heating season.

Today, 250 children and 62 teachers and staff can look forward to the next winter with dependable heat.

Every night, families across Ukraine go to sleep not knowing whether their homes will still be standing by morning, or whether everyone inside will wake up. Overnight on June 22, Russian forces launched another wave of attacks across the Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions. A father and his 13-year-old son were killed, civilians were injured, and more families woke up to homes damaged or destroyed.

After the attack, the Nova Stash team, Nova Ukraine's emergency response initiative, was on the ground, providing immediate support.

Some routine medical procedures expose healthcare workers to radiation. Protective aprons and thyroid shields reduce that risk while allowing doctors to stay at their patients’ side.

During video urodynamic studies, medical teams stay with patients throughout the procedure using continuous X-ray imaging. The lead-lined equipment protects vital organs and the thyroid from radiation, making these procedures safer for specialists.

To provide that protection, Nova Ukraine donated X-ray protective aprons and thyroid shields in June to the Lviv Territorial Medical Union Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital of Emergency and Intensive Care.

Today is World Refugee Day. More than 5.9 million Ukrainians remain refugees around the world after being forced to leave their homes because of Russia's full-scale invasion.

For many, the United States became a place to find safety and begin again.

Today, we want to thank the people across the U.S. who welcomed Ukrainian families into their communities. You opened your homes, helped children enroll in school, offered jobs, volunteered your time, donated supplies, and found countless ways to help.

Those acts of kindness made a difficult journey a little easier and reminded so many Ukrainians that they were not alone.
