Nova Ukraine and “Together with Kernel” Join Forces to Build a Stronger Ukraine

Representatives from Nova Ukraine and Together with Kernel shake hands after signing a MOU.

Kyiv, May 2026 — Nova Ukraine and the “Together with Kernel” Charitable Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), formalizing a shared commitment to help Ukrainian communities who urgently need energy resilience and independence.

The “Together with Kernel” Foundation has spent years investing in Ukrainian communities, funding construction, education, healthcare, and local capacity building. In recent years, the foundation has increasingly turned its focus to energy: its Solar Energy for Communities program is already delivering results, with solar panels installed at schools and hospitals, energy training for local activists, and active projects across the Chernihiv and Sumy regions.

Nova Ukraine, through its BUILD pillar, helps communities recover from war damage not just structurally, but systemically, ensuring that a hospital can keep running during a blackout and that a school is not at the mercy of an unstable power grid.

The first milestones of the partnership are already mapped out: solar panels will soon be installed at a hospital in the Poltava region and a school in the Chernihiv region. In addition, the partnership includes training programs for staff and community residents.

Liliia Marachkanets, Executive Director of Together with Kernel, says:

“Signing this memorandum with Nova Ukraine is a meaningful step in strengthening support for Ukrainian communities that urgently need energy resilience and independence. We are grateful to the Nova Ukraine team for their commitment to this initiative and their long-term, systemic work across Ukraine.

At “Together with Kernel”, we have been consistently advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy through our Solar Energy for Communities program. It means a great deal to have partners who truly understand what Ukraine needs right now, and who are ready to help communities keep critical facilities running, no matter what.”

Olena Drozd, VP of the Nova Ukraine BUILD pillar of work, says:

“When a hospital or a school has its own source of power, everything changes. It means a surgery doesn’t get postponed because of a blackout. A child can keep learning. The community holds together.

That’s why BUILD isn’t just about what we rebuild, it’s about making communities genuinely independent: from the grid, from disruption, from circumstances beyond their control. It’s about the capacity to function and recover even when the systems around you are unstable. And that’s exactly the kind of solution we want to scale together with Kernel.”
