Perhaps those wondering what the future holds for Ukraine should look to outer space. The Space Robotics team from Ukrainian Catholic University had an impressive performance at the 2026 European Rover Challenge last month, marking the first time a Ukrainian team has participated in the international competition and shining a spotlight on the skills of Ukraine’s best and brightest students. The Ukrainian team, with the support of Nova Ukraine and other sponsors, reached the finals of the competition, finishing in the top 20 among 124 other teams from across Europe. The event took place Sept. 4-6 in Krakow, Poland. The competition required the teams’ rovers to perform several tasks that simulated a Mars mission. The vehicles navigated across rough terrain, collected samples using a robotic arm, and worked alongside a drone to scout the area. The competition tested the performance of the entire system, including communications, navigation, mechanics, electronics, and autonomous behavior.

LANSING, MI—The Michigan State Senate yesterday unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution (SR 141) condemning the abduction and forced deportation of Ukrainian children by the Russian Federation. Nova Ukraine, Yoopers for Ukraine, and other community groups played a significant role in passing the resolution. Nova Ukraine applauds Michigan State Senators Chang (D) and McBroom (R) for introducing the resolution, and we look forward to its upcoming introduction in the Michigan House. While a similar resolution has passed at the federal level, Michigan is now the sixth state to act. How Pétanque is Helping Ukraine’s Veterans Build a League of Their Own On September 19-20, Lviv’s Stryiskyi Park transformed into a full-blown sports arena, with Ukrainian flags snapping overhead, families and coaches packed along the sidelines, and veteran support groups cheering from the edges of 25 specially built gravel lanes. This was the Grand Final of the 2026 All-Ukrainian Veterans Pétanque League: the year’s fourth and decisive tournament, and by far the biggest. 50 veteran teams, including 165 competitors, from 20 cities across Ukraine, came to compete hard and stand shoulder to shoulder with others who understand exactly what they’ve been through. Organized by our partner NGO Marlog-Caducei, supported by Nova Ukraine, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Lviv City Council, the tournament drew record crowds, as the trophy was captured by the Lviv team, Nezlamni, Nasha Gryae. With Nova Ukraine’s support for the second year in a row, Ukrainian nonprofit Chysto.De?!—whose name translates as “Clean.Where?!”—is expanding environmental education and creating new opportunities for Ukrainian eco-cinema. At this year’s ECO FILM FESTIVAL, organized by Chysto.De?! on August 15–16 at MC6 Creative Residence in Slavske, visitors watched Ukrainian and international environmental documentaries, attended lectures and public discussions, joined hands-on workshops, and explored a market of sustainable local crafts. Children and teenagers spent the weekend learning the basics of documentary storytelling, filming nature around them, experimenting with stop-motion animation, and presenting their own short films at the closing ceremony. For Nova Ukraine project manager Yevheniya Chuchko, it was the part of the festival that stayed with her most.

Ten Ukrainian military doctors complete the first pain management course of the Ukraine Without Pain project, supported by Nova Ukraine and hosted at Feofaniya Hospital. When a doctor learns a new way to treat pain, that knowledge can travel far beyond a training room. It can shape the care they provide to patients and the practices they share with colleagues. That is the idea behind the Ukraine Without Pain project: teams teaching teams to strengthen medical care for people affected by the war. With the support of Nova Ukraine and several other partners, the first training course in the project’s “Pain Management for Patients with Combat-Related Injuries” track has been completed at Feofaniya Hospital. Today, President Zelenskyy’s chief of staff Andriy Yermak has resigned following an anti-corruption investigation by NABU and SAPO. Nova Ukraine hails this development as proof that the country’s post-Maidan anti-corruption institutions — NABU, launched in 2015, and SAPO, its prosecutorial arm — are fearlessly targeting even the president’s inner circle, as designed to break old corrupt networks and secure EU integration. Now more than ever, Ukraine, its sitting president, and its anti-corruption investigators need unwavering allied support, including military aid, funding, and political cover, but not ultimatums to cede land to Russia for a shaky ceasefire. “Ukraine should not be forced to trade its sovereignty just as it shows a strong commitment to independence and rule of law; a lasting victory demands defeating both Russian occupiers and internal graft,” said Nova Ukraine Board Director Dr. Igor Markov.
Nova Ukraine CEO visits destroyed medical warehouse in Lviv On November 19, during one of the largest drone and missile attacks in months, Russia destroyed one of Nova Ukraine’s key medical warehouses in Lviv. The facility stored medical humanitarian supplies intended for hospitals, clinics and frontline healthcare teams across Ukraine. No Nova Ukraine staff were harmed. Nova Ukraine CEO Ambassador Erin McKee was in Ukraine during the attack. She visited Lviv soon after to see the damage firsthand. “My first feeling was relief that none of our personnel were harmed”, she highlighted, assuring that any other losses are replaceable.
Bay Area Ukrainians united in San Francisco on Sunday to push back against President Donald Trump's peace proposal to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
The 28-point peace plan circulating between Washington and Moscow did not land well. It has been overwhelmingly rejected across Europe, rated as "will require work" by G20 leaders, panned by U.S. senators and House members of both parties, shredded by Ukrainian-American organizations, and denounced by American foreign policy establishment. The New York Times called it "terrifying," The Wall Street Journal editorial denounced it as “an ultimatum”. Ukraine would be asked to amend their constitution to renounce NATO membership in perpetuity. Ukraine would surrender territory defended so far at tremendous human cost. The military would be cut from roughly 880,000 to 600,000 troops. Not downsized for peace, but shrunk during an ongoing invasion. Ukrainian officials are direct: such a reduction would guarantee future territorial losses, not peace. This opening bid is designed to collapse through successive rounds of "compromise." As the initial package has been rejected, pressure will intensify. New deadlines will come. New proposals will follow, each slightly less onerous, each accompanied by urgent appeals to "be realistic." The temptation will be tremendous to accept terms that seem better than the original proposal, even if they remain unacceptable. The months ahead will test Ukraine again. It is when revised proposals arrive with escalated pressure and narrowing options that the real negotiations begin. That is when it will matter most to remember what the red lines actually are. Nova Ukraine and its leadership remain vigilant and continue US-based advocacy for Ukraine in support of US national interests.
A medical warehouse belonging to the US-based charity Nova Ukraine has been destroyed in Lviv as a result of a Russian missile and drone attack on 19 November.
Russian combined strikes on Lviv on Thursday night destroyed one of the warehouses with medical aid intended for hundreds of civilian medical facilities, which was collected and transferred to Ukraine by the American charity organization Nova Ukraine.
During this nationwide assault, one of Nova Ukraine's medical warehouses in Lviv, Western Ukraine, was destroyed. No Nova Ukraine staff were harmed.

Early this morning, Russia launched one of the largest drone-and-missile attacks in months across Ukraine — 476 drones and 48 missiles striking residential buildings, energy facilities, and logistics hubs in freezing temperatures. At least 25 civilians, including three children, were killed and more than 80 injured. Our hearts are with every family affected by today’s violence. During this nationwide assault, one of Nova Ukraine’s medical warehouses was damaged. No Nova Ukraine staff were harmed. “We are profoundly grateful that our team is safe,” said Ambassador Erin E. McKee, CEO of Nova Ukraine. “Strikes like this are designed to break humanitarian supply chains just as winter begins. They will not succeed.” The warehouse contained medical supplies and in-kind donations designated to support hospitals and clinics across Ukraine. Losing any portion of this inventory creates immediate challenges for medical teams already working under immense pressure. As Oksana Gologorskaya, VP of Medical Projects, noted, “Our partners count on these supplies every single day. Losing even part of this stock creates immediate gaps for medical teams working under daily missiles. We are already rerouting equipment and preparing replacements so that medical personnel and healthcare facilities do not face interruptions in care.”
On November 18, the Wisconsin State Senate voted unanimously to pass Joint Resolution 103, with voice vote from the 33 Senators. This marks the first time such a resolution has been introduced at the state level in the United States. While a similar resolution has passed at the federal level, Wisconsin is the first state to take action. The initiative was presented to Wisconsin lawmakers in partnership by Nova Ukraine, a leading U.S.-based nonprofit supporting Ukraine, together with Wisconsin Ukrainians, Inc. and with the support of Friends of Ukraine–Madison. Senator Andre Jacque, one of the authors of the resolution, stressed the urgency of addressing these violations.
Igor Markov, a board member at Nova Ukraine, pointed to measurable results from coordinated diaspora advocacy. “Nova Ukraine’s volunteers have been involved in advancing every Ukraine aid bill passed by Congress since 2022,” he said. “Our coordination with other Ukrainian-American nonprofits helped secure passage of the National Security package in April 2024, including H.R. 8035 and H.R. 8038, which passed with strong bipartisan support—311-112 and 360-58 respectively—within a week of the Fourth Ukraine Action Summit.”
More than 750 delegates from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia gathered in Washington, D.C., on October 25–29, 2025, for the seventh Ukraine Action Summit — the largest gathering of American advocates for Ukraine to date. Organized by the American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU), the Summit united community leaders, experts, and volunteers who came together around one goal: to strengthen U.S. support for Ukraine. Nova Ukraine, as one of the founding organizations of the Coalition, played an active role in coordinating advocacy efforts, preparing delegates, and shaping unified messages for Congress. Over five days, delegates held 451 meetings with members of Congress to ensure that Ukraine remains a bipartisan priority in Washington. These meetings were part of a coordinated effort involving hundreds of volunteers across the United States. Each state delegation met with senators and representatives to discuss key legislation and deliver clear, unified messages in support of Ukraine. Four Policy Priorities of the Summit

Each and every single piece of equipment is vital for efficient emergency care, where time is of the essence—yet resources are often scarce.

Two days of powerful discussions brought together more than 250 doctors, researchers, and healthcare professionals from Ukraine, the United States, and across the world, all united by one goal: to strengthen Ukraine’s healthcare system and build sustainable recovery. Nova Ukraine at the Heal Ukraine Conference Nova Ukraine participated in two key panels. In the first one, Kateryna Kovalenko, Nova Ukraine Vice President for Strategic Alliances, spoke about the organization’s long-term work in the medical field and its model of sustainable partnerships. She emphasized that Nova Ukraine operated as a hub that united global NGOs, donors, businesses, doctors, and social services around one purpose: saving lives and rebuilding Ukraine’s medical system.
Erin E. McKee, CEO of Nova Ukraine, former U.S. Ambassador and USAID Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia (2022–2025), explains the political and diplomatic turbulence and the challenges currently facing Ukraine: “I think the difference now is that, unfortunately, we have almost four years of war behind us. As russia’s invasion of Ukraine persists into its third year, indiscriminate missile and drone attacks continue to devastate civilian life and infrastructure across the nation, deepening an already critical humanitarian crisis. The UN Refugee Agency estimates that 12.7 million people, including 2 million children, urgently require humanitarian assistance in 2025. This is further driven by widespread displacement: approximately 3.7 million are internally displaced in Ukraine, with 6.9 million refugees remaining abroad. The continued destruction of homes, hospitals, and schools—whether in Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia, and countless more cities—only exacerbate this crisis. In recognition of the escalating need for prompt distribution of humanitarian relief, Nova Ukraine launched the Nova Stash project in June 2024, a rapid-response initiative designed to deliver critical aid to Ukraine’s hardest-hit areas. Operating as a key arm of Nova Ukraine, Nova Stash consists of partners from local organizations who provide essentials like food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to survivors of russian attacks and shelling. As of September 2025, our Nova Stash teams are present in 13 regions throughout Ukraine. At the time of writing, Nova Stash teams have supported approximately 42,200+ victims across 133 locations targeted by russian shelling, totaling 176 deployments to attack sites. The significance of this project lies in the ability to mobilize essential aid swiftly and efficiently, bridging potential shortcomings in local emergency response efforts while supporting communities undergoing significant trauma. This article examines Nova Stash’s recent efforts, spotlighting its critical interventions following waves of russian airstrikes in early to mid-2025 across Odesa, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Kryvyi Rih, and other cities, where the team’s rapid action has proven vital to survival and recovery.

A team of eight doctors from Ukraine on the frontlines of wartime medical care is currently spending a month training at Yale New Haven Hospital.
