Dear Friends,

We live in a day and age that is truly testing the limits of what those in need can handle both emotionally and physically. It is difficult to imagine any refugee who, after being forced to leave behind their past lives damaged by war and conflict, maintains fortitude to face destruction once more. Yet, this is precisely what every Ukrainian who has settled in the Los Angeles Metroplex area must now endure.

The devastating fires that have engulfed Los Angeles have forced Ukrainian refugees who now call Southern California home to deal with factors beyond their control as they once again are forced to rebuild.

For a moment, let’s remember what forced these individuals from Ukraine:

• Daily missile attacks
• Energy system destruction
• Daily drone attacks
• Indiscriminate killing of civilians
• Food insecurity
• Medical provision insecurity
• Loss of sovereign Ukrainian land

And now, as a result of the catastrophic fires … these same people are once again facing:

• The loss of stable and secure housing
• Job instability and bridging financial needs
• Food insecurities and lack of transportation
• Uncertainty of medical and mental health support services
• Vulnerability and anxiety about their survival

Thanks to supporters like you, Nova Ukraine has responded to countless challenges impacting the livelihood of Ukrainian refugees in the United States.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022, Nova Ukraine’s Emergency Housing Team has provided housing to over 5,500 refugees and their families, has given financial support, and supplied healthcare services.
