“Ukraine on Stage” is a theatrical reading that dramatizes turning points in Ukraine’s history, extending from the genocidal famine in the early 1930s to the Maidan Revolution in 2014 and the war that continues today. We communicate with music as well as first-person accounts and poetry in a performance that is educational as well as dramatic.

This presentation places in historical context Ukraine’s struggle today for freedom, democracy, fundamental human rights, and peace.

These days, as the winter of 2023 comes to a close, Ukrainians are facing food, electricity, and medical supply shortages. They are experiencing the massive destruction of their surroundings and sometimes the loss of their own homes. As much as ever before, Ukraine needs our vigorous and generous support. This benefit performance will be an opportunity for all of us in the Bay Area to come together and express our solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
