Russian Shame-Protest Against the Rape of Women in Ukraine (San Francisco)
May 28 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 pm
Join Our Worldwide Protest Against Sexual Violence Towards Women as a Weapon of War in Ukraine by participating in the protest in San Francisco. We will be joined by other protesters around the US and the world on the same day and time.
On May 28th, we will stand with and commemorate Ukrainian women who have been the victims of brutal rape at the hands of the Russian soldiers who invaded Ukraine on February 24th. This protest originated in Latvia and Estonia by brave women who stood partially naked in front of the Russian Embassy, with their hands tied behind their backs and bags over their faces.
Now is your chance to fight for the women of Ukraine who were not strong enough to fight back. Now is your opportunity to give them a voice.
WE NEED 2 TYPE OF PROTESTERS:
1. Regularly dressed protesters with Ukrainian flags and signs pertaining to the use of rape in Ukraine as a weapon of war. If you want to support the protest in this way, PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS INVITE AS “GOING” OR “INTERESTED”
2. Girls who are willing to dress up in specific attire. Please see the dress code below.
PROTEST DRESS CODE: As this protest is VISUALLY IMPORTANT, we ask you to wear and do the following:
** Hands should be tied behind your back – rope (whatever color), tape, zip ties, ribbon (Russian flag colors); it should be visible. If you are not comfortable tying your wrists, grab your wrist with one hand and keep both hands together behind your back.
**Wear fair colored/white underwear, short shorts (booty shorts), bicycle shorts, or leggings with red paint on the front and back. Also, add red paint to the front and back of the legs.
** Put a cloth “gag” in your mouth. Example: Russian flag colors, white cloth symbolizing peace, etc… In choosing a gag, please make sure that you feel comfortable, can breathe, and communicate if necessary. If you do not wish to show your face for whatever reasons, cover your head with something that you feel comfortable breathing in.
If you are interested to support the protest in this way, JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP and introduce yourself in the Welcome post, or Message the Protest Organizers.
