A Critical Dam in Southern Ukraine Was Destroyed by Russian Occupiers on June 6, 2023

A Critical Dam in Southern Ukraine Was Destroyed by Russian Occupiers on June 6, 2023

The Kherson region is currently experiencing widespread devastation and severe flooding.

Numerous residents are evacuating from the region to flee sudden floods. Families have lost their homes, and communities are devastated.

Nova Ukraine is working with the state Emergency Services of Ukraine to purchase the necessary equipment to address the consequences of this ecological catastrophe resulting from the Russian attack on Ukraine.

Nova Ukraine evacuation partners have been working on the ground in the Kherson region this past year. They know the land very well and are in touch with local authorities. Their support on the ground is invaluable.

Please support our efforts by donating and sharing this fundraiser!

Your donation will provide vital resources, empowering the brave responders on the ground to navigate through the floodwaters, rescue those trapped, and deliver critical aid. Our main priorities at this time are providing drinking water, water pumps and cleanup.

As the flood situation develops quickly, we are staying in touch with the Emergency Service of Ukraine to understand the needs on the ground. We have aligned our efforts with the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, with their media and information support.

Donate. Impact. Change.

Training ENT Surgeons in Acoustic Trauma

Author Matt Salter Nova Ukraine is dedicating funds to a vital and often underserved medical necessity in conflict areas: acoustic trauma. In partnership with Pivnyk Charitable Foundation, this new program will train Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) doctors in Ukraine to treat hearing loss and ear injuries. Why Hearing Restoration Is Critical An estimated 60% of people injured in combat zones suffer acoustic trauma, hearing loss, or both. Ukrainian troops and civilians throughout the country suffer acoustic injuries. Without proper treatment, the pain and sensory loss of such injuries can last a lifetime.

On the ground with Nova Ukraine’s CEO: Stories of impact from Lviv, Kyiv, and Kharkiv

Author Diana Kirk The mom passing warm slices of bread to her kids. The warehouse worker placing that last box on the truck. The child in the after-school program who just discovered: she loves to draw. These are snapshots from a trip that stayed with Nova Ukraine’s CEO Ambassador, Erin E. McKee, long after she left Lviv, Kyiv, and Kharkiv in April 2026. Because behind each moment is the work of an extraordinary partner organization, helping to heal, build, and empower Ukraine. Together, we're ensuring that the Ukrainian people remain resilient today, and thrive tomorrow. In two dozen meetings with partners, local leaders, and people on the ground, here's what Erin saw.

Aprons shield vital organs and bone marrow from radiation exposure. Collars protect the thyroid gland, which is sensitive to excessive radiation. Both are vital in long-term X-ray use. In addition to providing improved safety through the procedure, protective gear allows for more detailed imaging, which makes for improved diagnosis, better treatment, and healthier patients. Tools like these go beyond the current crisis: they are reliable and reusable, suitable for the long-term use that forms the foundation of resilient healthcare systems. Nova Ukraine, through our HEAL pillar, is dedicated to providing Ukrainian doctors, medics, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with the tools they need to build strong and lasting healthcare infrastructure across the country.

Equipping Doctors for Safer Diagnosis

Author Matt Salter Nova Ukraine’s latest investment in strong, modern healthcare systems has arrived! Lviv First Medical Association has received a shipment of protective X-ray aprons and collars. These tools keep patients and caregivers safe during procedures requiring X-ray imaging, empowering healthcare workers to give patients top-quality diagnosis, treatment, and care. The new aprons and collars protect patients and healthcare workers from X-ray overexposure in video urodynamics, the process of identifying and treating potentially deadly issues of the urinary system and bladder. It calls for specialists to stay by a patient’s side from the beginning of the imaging process to the end of the procedure. Long-term, hands-on care like this produces the best outcomes, but without protective gear, it risks exposing patients and doctors to dangerous levels of radiation. With the new gear, doctors in Ukraine can deliver best-in-class diagnosis and treatment, improving current and future outcomes across the national healthcare system.
