Partner Highlight: SICH-Ukraine

Products and swag from the 10th anniversary celebration for SiCH Tourniquet, a Ukrainian company that produces life-saving medical equipment, saving thousands of lives on the front lines in Ukraine

We would like to highlight a very special company that manufactures high-quality tourniquets right in Ukraine. SICH-Ukraine is a leading producer of this crucial first-aid item that is in very high demand since the onset of full-scale invasion, and to this day.

SICH is the official supplier of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the National Guard and Police, in addition to providing thousands of tourniquets through various partners, including Nova Ukraine, to the civilians, first responders, and defenders.

The company was founded in 2014 by a team of entrepreneurs and volunteers headed by Aleksandr Hadomskyi. Its designers and developers created a durable, reliable, high-functioning tourniquet that is able to control massive bleeding under any weather and extreme conditions. During the russian occupation, and later, under rocket fire, in the absence of electricity, SICH-Ukraine workers continued to produce the tourniquets.

The SICH tourniquet features:

  • Light yet resistant duralumin (an alloy of aluminum and magnesium)
  • Soft coating and the buckle designed not to pinch soft tissue when the tourniquet is applied
  • An ergonomic design
  • A patented sticking technology to ensure secure and effective functioning even under extreme conditions and in any weather
Partner Highlight: SICH-Ukraine

In 2023, SICH-Ukraine produced and delivered to more than 500,000 tourniquets, both as part of the official IFAK first-aid kits of the Ministry of Defense and in separate deliveries for the needs of the defenders. In December 2024 the company celebrated its 10th anniversary. During this period, its products have gone from experimental models to automated serial production, saving thousands of lives.

In December 2024, some of Nova Ukraine’s staff in our Kyiv office, along with a representative from our longtime partner Patriot, met with Oleksandr Hadomskyi. They discussed plans for the future and witnessed how tourniquets are made.

One of the meeting attendants, Yevheniya Benda, who is Nova Ukraine’s Medical Project Coordinator for First-Aid Medicine, commented: “The production process itself is stunning. Innovative equipment, constant quality control at every stage, optimization, scaling, and approaches to product creation because a high-quality tourniquet is the key to survival. It was fascinating to see how life-saving things are created millimeter by millimeter.”

Nova Ukraine continues to collaborate with SICH-Ukraine on delivering this crucial first-aid device to the defenders and civilians alike, saving lives.

When the Pain Becomes a Part of You

“Nova Ukraine's new Vector of Resilience joint pilot project helps Ukraine's veteran support specialists address burnout and secondary traumatic stress.” The program's first residential trainings, launched by Nova Ukraine and its partners, were recently held in Ukraine's Volyn Oblast. Mariia, a support specialist, almost didn't attend. Leaving the veterans and families she supported for three days filled her with guilt she couldn't shake. She worried about how they would manage without her. But when she found herself among psychologists, social workers, healthcare professionals, and community specialists who shared the same responsibilities, something changed.

A photo of a memory board created by Zmistovno students in Odesa, July 2026 Thirty-five years ago, on August 24, Ukraine restored its independence. Today, Ukrainians defend and strengthen it every single day. The United States and Ukraine are separated by geography and history, but united by the belief that people have the right to live freely and determine their own future. In July, Ambassador Erin E. McKee traveled to Odesa and Mykolaiv to meet the people and organizations living that belief: Ukrainians leading recovery in their own communities, supported by partnerships that last.
