Please support the work of our volunteers on the recreation of Ukrainian costumes and accessories by donating to reimburse them for the materials used (please specify this in your donations). It would be great if we can compensate our volunteers for at least some of the materials used for the outfits for the photo session, as well as be able to purchase materials to prepare the costumes and accessories for festivals, holidays, performances and future photo sessions.

Iryna Ishchenko
Iryna doesn’t exactly remember when she started photography. She remembers herself “playing a photographer” with her Dad’s unloaded camera as a kindergartener. She got her own camera when she was eight, and since then it became an extension of her hand. Iryna decided to pursue a professional path as a photographer after she lost both of her parents and realized that all she was left with were her memories and photos. For her son her parents exist only in photographs and she is very glad that they have a lot of photos of her family. Iryna believes everyone should exist in the photographs – for themselves and for their children and grandchildren.
Iryna works mainly with women of different ages and their families. She said: ”I help women feel beautiful and look beautiful. It’s empowering.” She also teaches photography to parents with cameras, helping them to avoid the frustrations of having great cameras but not knowing how to use them.
Iryna wrote about our photo session: “I am honored to participate in this project because it’s a great privilege and pleasure to be able to help someone in my Homeland with what I enjoy doing and know how to do well.
It was a great pleasure to meet so many fantastic families and to become a part of an incredible team of women who made this project possible and successful.”
