Thanks to the constant financial support of Nova Ukraine and with the coordination of our partner Patients of Ukraine, one of Kyiv’s hospitals received external fixation devices that allow for complex orthopedic interventions. Behind each donation is a real person, their pain, their path to recovery, and their faith in life.
Dmytro’s story is one of those.
“For some time now, I had been walking with a fracture that refused to heal properly. When I reached the rehabilitation stage, the doctors said that I would have to have another surgery — the displacement was significant”.
A plate, Nova Ukraine funded, was installed in Dmytro’s hand to fix the bone fragments. This allowed for the elimination of the deformity, stabilization of the position of the bones, and restoration of the function of the hand.
In February and March 2025 alone, 63 requests from medical institutions across the country were processed. Osteosynthesis structures, neurosurgery cages, external fixation devices, and instruments for traumatologists were transferred to hospitals in Kyiv and 16 other regions with Nova Ukraine’s support.
This enabled at least 567 surgeries, such as the one that helped Dmytro to recover and move towards his dream.
“The immediate plans are to return to the ranks and continue to protect Ukraine. And the dream is to live in a free Ukraine,” says Dmytro.
Nova Ukraine and Patients of Ukraine had been continuously working on delivering critical medical care, including equipment and services, to help save and rebuild lives. Since February 2022, Nova Ukraine has delivered over $110 million in aid and services to the people of Ukraine, helping more than 7.9 million people. Our medical initiatives receive the largest share of our budget, reflecting the critical need in this area.
