Dear Friend,
As Ukraine enters its fourth winter of the full-scale invasion, Russia is intensifying attacks on energy infrastructure, hospitals, and civilian areas — leaving families in the cold and forcing hospitals to operate with backup power.
This month’s newsletter shows how your gift transforms into lifesaving treatment in the dark, heat in the cold, and hope under fire.
On Ukraine’s front lines, drones now hunt the wounded and the medics who try to reach them. Recent reporting from Kharkiv shows evacuations delayed for days, with soldiers and civilians surviving only if power, supplies, and trained teams are already in place. These are the stakes this winter: support must reach people fast, even under drones and blackouts.
HEAL: Medical Aid and Global Partnerships
Strengthening Maternal and Neonatal Care in Kyiv
With healthcare needs surging across Ukraine, Nova Ukraine continues to equip hospitals serving mothers and newborns.
The Ukrainian Center of Maternity and Childhood in Kyiv received a shipment worth $37,000 — including 62,000+ items: fetal monitors, medical instruments, furniture, and apparel for healthcare staff. This delivery, made possible through partners Medical Bridges and FIGS, strengthens care for mothers, infants, and women with complicated pregnancies.
Ukrainian Doctors Begin Chronic Pain Training at Yale
Six Ukrainian doctors have begun specialized training at Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Hospital to address one of the most urgent medical issues caused by war: chronic pain from wounds, amputations, and trauma.
This program is a partnership between Doctors United for Ukraine, Nova Ukraine, Yale’s World Partnership Fund, and the Office of International Affairs.
Next, Nova Ukraine joins the Heal Ukraine Conference at Harvard (Nov 7–8) to spotlight how medical innovation and pain management sustain care under attack.
Why it matters: Building medical expertise and cross-training for medical professionals ensures care continues, no matter how often infrastructure is attacked.
BUILD: Community Support & Energy Resilience

Across Ukraine, displaced families need safety and stability. In Khmelnytskyi, a former hospital has been transformed into a temporary shelter for displaced families. Together with our partner we equipped the facility with essential furniture to create a more comfortable and welcoming environment for residents.
Nova Ukraine also fuels the evacuation project through the OKKO partnership — powering life-saving convoys that evacuate the most vulnerable population near the frontlines. In September alone, they covered 5,290 miles, answering 20 emergency evacuation calls for families trapped under shelling.
Solar Power for Resilient Communities — Kherson
With Rada Mist, solar systems now power artesian wells in frontline villages of Kherson region. Even when the power goes out, people still get clean water — protecting both dignity and health.
Why it matters: When Russia strikes the power grids, decentralized energy sources keep water flowing, homes warm, and emergency services running.
EMPOWER: Science, Education, and Independent Media

Expanding STEM Access
With our partner INSCIENCE, more than 18,000 children explored STEM in Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson. Four recent sessions were held, where 86 students learned from an archaeologist, polar biologist, mathematician, and astrophysicist to conduct research at the Vernadsky Antarctic Research Base.
Nova Ukraine Partners with The Kyiv Independent to Support War Crimes Investigations
Nova Ukraine is partnering with The Kyiv Independent to host a special event in New York in support of the newsroom’s War Crimes Investigations Unit (WCIU) — a dedicated team documenting Russia’s crimes against civilians in Ukraine. All proceeds from the event will directly fund the unit’s ongoing investigations. The WCIU’s work grows ever more vital as Russia continues to commit war crimes with devastating consequences for Ukrainian communities. Through on-the-ground reporting, verification, and storytelling, the team ensures that these crimes are recorded, submitted, and never forgotten. The latest documentary, the 10th produced by the team, touches upon the painful topic of Russia’s militarization of Ukrainian children.
Join us on December 9, 2025, at the Ukrainian Institute of America, in New York City.
Supporting the Next Generation — Zalizna Zmina
Nova Ukraine empowers young people through programs like Zalizna Zmina, a project for ages 13–17 that combines personal development, emotional support, and patriotic education to prepare the next generation of Ukrainians to rebuild the country after the war. As of December 2024, about 3,000 children have joined the project. The project is implemented by the Iron Squad Charitable Foundation with the support of Nova Ukraine and funding from The Howard G. Buffett Foundation.
Why it matters: Education is a vital investment in Ukraine’s post-war strength — ensuring that those who defended the country can play a key role in its recovery and reconstruction.
ADVOCATE: Ukraine Action Summit

Ukraine Action Summit — Fall 2025
This October, more than 700 advocates from all 50 states joined the American Coalition for Ukraine in Washington, D.C. They met lawmakers, shared survivor stories, and pushed for continued bipartisan support for Ukraine’s defense and reconstruction.

BringKidsBack — Wisconsin Legislature
Wisconsin became the first U.S. state to pass a resolution supporting the return of abducted Ukrainian children. This momentum helps keep the issue in the national spotlight and strengthens diplomatic pressure on Russia
Why it matters: Russia’s forced deportation of Ukrainian children is a war crime. Visibility drives accountability — and accelerates efforts to bring these children home.
