Dear Friends,

The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine continues to escalate due to russia’s ongoing aggression. Despite diplomatic efforts to secure peace, russia’s relentless attacks on Ukrainian cities have resulted in significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction.

UN reports confirm that hundreds of innocent civilians, including many children, have been killed and over 1,300 injured in just the first three months of 2025. Not a single day in March passed without an attack harming civilians. Nearly 13 million people in Ukraine urgently need humanitarian assistance, and more than 10 million have been forced to flee their homes.

Families face impossible decisions daily – stay amidst relentless shelling, without reliable access to heat, water, and electricity, or risk everything by fleeing their homes in search of safety.

In these challenging times, your support makes our work possible.

Each clean water station built, each medical facility equipped, each family evacuated from the frontlines represents lives changed and HOPE restored. Through our combined efforts, we’re not just providing aid—we’re helping build resilience and creating pathways to recovery for communities across Ukraine.

Medical Aid: Rebuilding Lives

March Newsletter

At the end of 2024, Nova Ukraine, together with the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, launched the Ukraine Without Pain project. The initiative aims to create a network of pain centers for treating chronic pain in Ukraine, supply hospitals with the necessary equipment, and fund doctor training.

One success story is Ilya, a defender who survived amputation, rehabilitation, re-amputation, and months of debilitating pain. At the Feofaniya Clinical Hospital, one of two medical facilities implementing the project, specialists performed interventions that significantly reduced his pain. The most dramatic change came when Ilya received an implanted spinal cord stimulator.

“This stimulator completely eliminated the pain. A nice bonus was that it also removed phantom pain. Now I will recover, and life will begin. Next year, my friend and I will go to the Invictus Games,” Ilya shared. Watch a video here.

Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month, and we want to recognize the extraordinary contributions of Ukrainian women during this conflict. Women have become pillars of resilience and recovery:

  • 59% of all new businesses in Ukraine in 2024 were started by women
  • More than 68,000 women have joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine5,000 women are actively serving in combat roles
  • Our Small Business Grant programs support numerous women-led projects that create real impact in their communities

We’re particularly proud of entrepreneurs like Lyubov with her famous “Victory” bread from Craft Bakery, demonstrating how women are rebuilding Ukraine’s economy even amidst war. Earlier this year, we proudly celebrated a major milestone: the baking of the two-millionth loaf, for vulnerable families living near the frontlines.
